Hearing a lot lately that since the UK emits only 1% of greenhouse gases that we shouldn’t bother cutting emissions. Truth is that over 90% of 195 nations in the Paris accord can make that same claim. We are not special. All countries must play an ambitious role & no time to lose

Dartmoor is hot & dry. Fire risk high & great caution needed. In adapting to climate shifts we might wish to expand temperate rainforests there & elsewhere. The open moorland is tinder dry. Rainforest 200 metres away is cool & relatively moist & at lower risk of combustion.

So much good environmental stuff happening in the uplands. The areas known to me are probably going through the most radical nature restoration for centuries. Massive credit to partners like Ullswater Catchment Management CIC who work with farmers like us to get stuff done.

The opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics was 13 years ago today in London; what a wonderful time for our city and country that was.

REPORT: White House orders NASA to destroy satellite used for monitoring climate change, according to NPR The censorship campaign goes to space. I guess if you can’t SEE the climate changing, then it ISN’T changing. The stupidity is exquisite.

Met the most lovely Hannah Dale ⁦⁦⁦Wild Wrendale⁩ and the transformation of intensive farmland to wildlife paradise. Beavers, wader scrapes, wildflower meadows and rampant hedgerows. So inspiring. Thank you, Hannah, for showing what’s possible.

Another great nesting season for the Holkham Spoonbills, 41 pairs averaging 2 juveniles per pair. It's now the 15th year of nesting, and in that time some 748 juveniles have fledged. Been a privilege and a joy to have monitored them there since they began prospecting in 2004 !

Beth Rigby's feed is a run of 30 posts about Angela Rayner & not one mention of Farage's disastrous appearance in Washington . It's actually terrifying how much the UK media wants Farage as the next PM & incredibly bad journalism .

Creating Buffer strips along rivers is probably the single most effective environmental action you can take. Habitat creation, pollution prevention, flood alleviation, carbon sequestration Post Brexit we could have done more. Looks like we’re doing less theguardian.com/environment/20…

Here I am in 2020 in the flimsiest, most pitful PPE - like so many other NHS staff, some of whom died from the Covid they caught in their hospitals. Tory peer Lady Michelle Mone - who today rightly (& wonderfully) lost her legal case - dares to claim she’s been ‘scapegoated’. What,

I don't think many of my followers are seeing my posts anymore. 😔 The algorithm doesn't seem to promote photographers like it used to a few years ago.. If you see this tweet, of a Robin dropping from a berry laden branch, please can you let me know in the comments. 🙏🐦♥️

After a long hot & dry summer, & the serious fires that came with that, it is important to ponder what might be done to help reduce future risk in a time of rapid climate change. Here are some thoughts from Sallie Bailey, Chief Scientist Natural England naturalengland.blog.gov.uk/2025/09/29/wil…
