science". As part of this poster we will have a JamBoard for you to share your favorite urban-based dataset that folks may not know about (do you know what cities have GIS files of stormwater or sewer pipes???) AND come by to take our survey on what YOU see as the key questions,

In this CBC News piece I highlight we commonly "undersell this kind of project.” #Riverrestoration can bring a vast wealth ($) of benefits, for nature and people. #naturalassets cbc.ca/news/canada/ki…

Canada's science & innovation talent pipeline is a massive filter, removing those without external financial support. How many potential Nobel laureates have we excluded? How many who may have cured cancer? Pay emerging scientists a living wage Chrystia Freeland. #SupportOurScience

Kudos to PhD students Bryant Serre and Wyatt Weatherson for leading a field course at Yellow Creek on water sampling and monitoring techniques. Students from biomedical science, botany, chemistry, and public health benefited from this excellent course!

Deeply disappointed to learn that funding has been cancelled for the wastewater surveillance program in Ontario. This has been critical information not only for COVID-19, but other infectious disease threats (Influenza, RSV, MPox, Polio & now H5N1) in Ontario.

I was saddened to see the obituary of Wayne Rouse in today's Hamilton Spectator. A prof at McMaster University's geography dept, his publications were 'required reading' when I was a new academic doing research on Canadian lakes, esp in the Arctic, & the effects of #climate change. #cdnsci #cdnenv

Wayne Rouse was a driving force on my committee during my MSc and PhD. He cared deeply about Canada’s north, climate change, and everyone he met. Much of his work was ‘pre internet’ and now overlooked. Looking back, Wayne was far ahead of the curve in every way. Remember him.

I'm so sad to hear that Wayne passed on Friday. Wayne was the kindest and most generous mentor. I was one of his last graduate students and his impact on my life was immense. I would not be where I am today without him. McMaster University circleoflifecbc.com/m/obituaries/W…
