Today @mattgallowaycbc wrapped up a really incredible era as the host of Metro Morning. I was honoured to be interviewed by him in 2017 about student food insecurity. You can listen below! Thank you for your work and sharing so many important stories. cbc.ca/listen/live-ra…

Grad school has changed my life in so many ways. I’ve become obsessed with making fermented foods at home. Today I bought a label maker. When I turn my neck it makes a crunching sound from looking down at my laptop. I also don’t sleep anymore. But I have homemade kombucha!

But really, tomorrow I will hand in my last assignment of my first semester of grad school. I’m really proud of myself. More than that, I am grateful for the experience and to have a supportive supervisor. I can’t wait to bring her kombucha and kimchi. In labeled containers.

Don’t love this comparison. It is the same equity problem at different scales. ‘Regular folk’ don’t all have the same access to resources. It is still an example of people with privilege - for the most part - being able to stock up.

Humans are not “the virus.” Indigenous people have shown that it is possible to live in balance with nature. Colonialism and extraction for profit, those are the virus.

Masters/PhD students: how are you doing? Are you afraid to think about how this will impact your research? Having a hard time focusing on an unwaivering workload while working from home? Want to talk about it? I have the capacity to hold space right now if you want.

The coming economic crisis is a political choice, as so many of them are. There is enough wealth in the world to stop it from happening, if even a part of that wealth was redistributed. It is a conscious political choice not to do so, framed in the language of inevitability.

Hi Mike Layton - I live in your ward and am curious what your stance is on the motion to defund the Toronto police by 10% and how you will vote on June 29.

Today marks 9300 days of Boil Water Advisory for Neskantaga First Nation a remote community in Northwestern Ontario. What a shame to have that distinction of the longest boil water advisory in Canada!

What did students actually report wanting from their instructors during the spring? Flexibility, honesty, responsiveness, mutual respect, and kindness. THIS is the kind of "professionalism" that students are looking for: instructional continuity balanced with humanity.
