Graduate students restrain a male white-tailed deer at the Faith Ranch located near Carrizo Springs, TX to help contribute to answering the research question, "how does the type and timing of supplemental nutrition influence fawn recruitment and deer performance".

Recently, Wildlife Photography Program instructor, Brian Loflin, took his advanced wildlife photography class and other visitors to photography blinds in the woods by the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Center and captured these excellent photos.

Happy Valentine’s Day! Grad student Austin Ibarra is researching breeding behavior of GPS-collared elk, mule deer, & white-tailed deer. By monitoring daily distance traveled, he estimates peak rutting period. Love may be in the air for us, but for deer & elk it was back in fall.

CKWRI graduate student, Calvin Ellis, conducted the final capture of mule deer for his dissertation research. The research project aims to evaluate population performance, movement, and survey techniques for mule deer in western Oklahoma to better inform mule deer management.

Grad student Dakota Moberg is conducting a plant-soil feedback project that needed custom catchment trays which led her to learning how to weld. The trays were used to collect & move soil post-sterilization & reduced the time & manpower it would take the move the soil otherwise.
