I know so many amazing folklorists who've come out of/are currently enrolled in Western Kentucky University's folklore program--both public folklorists and academic folklorists--and they have contributed so much to the field. Losing this program would be devastating. We must fight to save it!

Folkwise is distressed by the news of losing an important and rigorous Folklore Masters Program at Western Kentucky University. The work of folklorists will struggle to continue without academic programs that specialize in public folklore and ethnographic methodologies. 🧵

I watched the NASA livestream of the eclipse today and it was pretty great because in every city, they had scientists live reacting. They were all so moved. These are people who study the sun, moon, or eclipses, seeing the object of their work take shape in front of them. Lovely.
