We are looking forward to hosting this event on Wednesday, May 15th, 11.00 am EST. In his excellent new book, Christopher Phillips seeks to answer key questions: What does the post-Oct 7 Middle East look like? Has the region moved to a post-American era? Can China or Russia replace US? +

Looking forward to reading this. Seems well aimed - there must be plenty of people eager to learn more about recent conflicts in the Middle East. Understanding complexity is unfashionable right now (in certain vocal quarters) but it's hugely important.

For all those reading the news on Israel/Iran and perhaps looking for a more in-depth yet accessible analysis of the various, complex conflict dynamics of the Middle East may I recommend this brand new book by my School of Politics & IR at Queen Mary colleague Christopher Phillips:
Really great to have my first book launch for #Battleground10 at my home school of School of Politics & IR at Queen Mary last night. It was a fascinating discussion led by Renad Mansour from Chatham House MENA and Martin Coward, and lovely to have so many of my brilliant Queen Mary University of London colleagues come along.
