🌈 Yesterday celebrated our 2SLGBTQ+ community in the #CalgaryPride Parade. CJHS supports the 2SLGBTQ+ community through housing, youth programs, and criminal justice supports. There is much more work to be done, but we hope to build safer, more inclusive communities. #YYCPride

Some of our team and youth clients had the privilege of joining Elder Ruby Eaglechild and Elder Julie at Siksika to harvest sage. They learned about the traditions connected to sage, offered tobacco in reciprocity, and gathered this sacred medicine to be used in our facilities.

Indigenous youth are 8% of the youth population but nearly 50% of youth corrections admissions, a result of intergenerational trauma & inequities. At CJHS, youth connect with culture through drum making, ribbon shirts, bannock, and sage harvesting. #NDTR #TruthAndReconciliation

Earlier this month, CJHS hosted a collaborative conference focused on supporting diverse individuals within the justice system. We’re hopeful this event sparked new ideas, strengthened connections, and laid the groundwork for future collaboration across the sector. #yyc
