Today on Yom HaShoah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember the six million Jews who were killed in the Holocaust. We also honor the life-saving work of individuals such as Raoul Wallenberg, a Swedish diplomat who aided thousands of Hungarian Jews during World War II. (1/2)

Who do you think should be in the Jewish-American Hall of Fame? This question is the focus of The 2019 Norman E. Alexander Award for Excellence in Jewish Student Writing. High school students are invited to write a 500-word essay on this subject and submit it to the (1/2)

As the Fourth of July approaches, we are highlighting two museum objects associated with the history of Jewish immigration to America. This Hanukkah lamp by Manfred Anson features candle holders cast from a Statue of Liberty souvenir, tying an American symbol of freedom to (1/3)

the Hanukkah story, events throughout Jewish history, and Anson’s own journey fleeing the Holocaust. Similarly, the reverse of Emma Lazarus’s Jewish-American Hall of Fame medal depicts immigrants looking hopefully towards the Statue of Liberty, where Lazarus’s poem (2/3)
