The latest article from our Compulsory Income Management Study - expertly led by @StevenHWRoche - is now out! We find that Compulsory Income Management measures are poorly suited to addressing the needs of children, as they fail to influence the structural factors that most impact their wellbeing.
The Report of the Select Committee on Poverty in SA was tabled last month. Wonderful to see our Hidden Costs report and our AJSI article on compulsory income management and homelessness extensively cited parliament.sa.gov.au/en/Committees/… Greg Marston Dr Michelle Peterie Zoe Staines @StevenHWRoche
Gratifying to see two of our Compulsory Income Management Study publications discussed in this Select Committee report The Committee's first recommendation is that the Gov of SA consider "requesting the Government of Australia wind-up the #CashlessDebitCard scheme in the #Ceduna region by 31 Dec 2022"
Our Compulsory Income Management Study findings are reported in the Australian today “Child welfare issues are nuanced & multi-factorial, & frequently exist in a broader context of … disadvantage [...] Crude coercive measures like CIM are woefully ill-equipped to address them" protect-au.mimecast.com/s/1SloC71R2NTA…
Our research is discussed in the Australian today @StevenHWRoche Dr Michelle Peterie Zoe Staines We found that welfare quarantining has "limited verifiable effectiveness in enhancing child wellbeing and reducing children’s exposure to harm" protect-au.mimecast.com/s/1SloC71R2NTA…

The latest article from our Compulsory Income Management Study is out in Critical Social Policy. We show that Money Management (NZ's version of the #CDC) does not build financial capability as claimed. Rather, it can be counterproductive in this respect journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.11… Greg Marston Zoe Staines
The latest article from our team is now out in Critical Social Policy Responsibilising young benefit recipients: Income management and financial capability in New Zealand journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.11… Greg Marston Zoe Staines Dr Michelle Peterie TASA
