The Australian government has launched a billboard campaign to recruit Irish medics. Perhaps Ireland should follow suit and launch our own campaign in Australia… My latest cartoon for Medical Independent #Cartoon #DoctorEmigration

Unfortunately we’re still stuck in the dark ages in Waterford with our pregnant women fasting from midnight for section. Great to hear that evidence is moving towards #SipsTilSection SipTilSend, especially when there can be delays throughout the day

This is completely ridiculous. Peak incidence of #hyperemesis is 9 weeks gestation so women dont usually have a “treating obstetrician” at that stage. This initiative will drive women into the emergency departments, why not GP? @DonnellyStephen Hyperemesis Ireland

#MedTwitter, a family member who’s pregnant and has Covid was advised to take Quercetin by her maternity hospital… is this a thing?! I’ve never even heard of it before 🫣 And my quick google of it doesn’t advise in pregnancy due to lack of safety data 🤔

This is the maternity hospital in Szeged, Hungary. There’s a baby deposit box outside, where women in crisis can safely surrender their newborn 🥺 I wonder how often it gets used…

Super interesting read! I learned so much about labour ward management, kiwi deliveries, and perineal repair from the legend Dr Mark Skehan 👏🏻
