Waverley students don't just make art to make art. Art education is so much bigger than that! Students learn how art can help them in other subjects, the workplace, and life in general. They learn life skills: expressing themselves, collaborating, real world problem-solving...

What do Waverley students do when they can't get enough art in during their regular class time? They ask to come in during recess for more! #newheights

Students are finally finished symbolically expressing their identity through their Waverley Golden Eagle feathers. The feathers will soon be assembled into an enormous eagle and displayed in three cafeteria. Stay tuned! #newheights

Together, We Soar! These huge eagle wings are composed of all of the feathers made by Waverley students from PreK-5th grade. Each feather symbolically expresses students' individual identities. The students did an amazing job! #newheights

Never too early to start Gallery Walks and Peer Critiques! 1st grade students analyzed peer artwork and determined which pieces were most creative, had the best craftsmanship, followed requirements, as well as had room for growth based on their own suggestions. #NewHeights

I am so proud of the responsible 5th grade students that take advantage of the extra time and guidance I offer them on their clay projects during their recess/my lunch! #NewHeights

This slab roller I bought for my classroom is amazing! Made rolling out 200+ lbs of clay slabs for 5th grade clay box projects a breeze compared to previous years! #NewHeights

Sewing in kindergarten is so important for fine motor skill development. One class can go through a set of 40 safety needles in 40 minutes! Glad I stocked up at Joanne's 😀

1st Grade Patterned Self-Portraits. So proud of these roles models on this challenging assignment involving math (fractions), primary colors, secondary colors, guided drawing, observational drawing, and patterns. Teacher clarity and deliberate practice at work! #NewHeights

Kindergarten Family Portrait Collages are ready just in time to be holiday gifts! Drawing figures with geometric shapes, cutting, picking out warm or cool colored pieces of cloth, sewing a running stitch border, and sewing on buttons for "feel" texture. #NewHeights

Took almost a full week to sort, organize, and distribute artwork for all 500+ of my students by placing their artwork into their designated bags, but it is finally ready for them to pick up next week. 4th and 5th graders will finally receive their clay projects, too! #ALLIN
