The entire premise of this by Ian Beattie is drivel & UKA are a global embarrassment. Higher standards arrive from increased participation levels, and good quality competition. UKA are failing their athletes from all angles.

The absolute audacity to say that whose who don’t make it out of the heats do nothing to inspire. These are the athletes that go on to prop up your grassroots as local coaches, mentors, they inspire their local communities so damn much.
