I started a band because I wanted to be Bon Jovi. I wrote my first book because I wanted to be Douglas Adams and Bill Bryson. I wrote #SongsAboutAGirl because I needed an outlet for my 1D obsession. I think *all* creative endeavours are driven by fandom, to some degree.

I probably overuse scarves in my books. I'm well into scarves. I'm currently wearing three. No word of a lie, I paused writing a scene about a "luxurious grey scarf" to write this tweet.

I once commissioned Alice Oseman Updates to bring my fictional boyband Fire&Lights to life, in a drawing, and I was blown away by her talent and work ethic (not to mention what a lovely person she is!). Hard to think of anyone more deserving of this incredible news. Congrats Alice!
