The government is giving €160 million next year to landlords in new tax breaks. They're giving €88 million to renters. There's a lot more renters than there are landlords. #Budget2024

Living in a privately rented home is linked to more rapid biological ageing when compared to owning your home outright. A decent and affordable home is the foundation of a healthy life, and the private rental sector is delivering the opposite. theguardian.com/society/2023/o…

"What irritates me is when tenants tell me they can't pay their rent because their mum just died." This is the real face of landlordism.

This is the cruelty our members face every single day. This is the reality of having a housing system that prioritises profit over all else.

This building was derelict for 6 years. This is what happens within hours of homeless people squatting there for shelter. People die on the streets while living in tents in Ireland.

Scott mythbusting the MYTH that landlords are leaving the market. The number of rented properties has increased since the rent freeze from 340,000 to 343,600. Don’t believe landlords fear-mongering. Endorse our demands for rent controls! livingrent.org/demand_rent_co…

How can the former director of a huge private bailiff company head up the implementation of an “ethical debt collection policy” ?? Absolute farce.

CATU Campaigns group are continuing down the road of Universal Public Housing. Today Roux submitted his story of Eviction to further this objective. Could this not have been avoided with Public Housing?

If you haven’t already - take 1 min to endorse our demands for rent controls! This is a huge opportunity to win rent controls that work for us. Every single tenant who wants to see rent controls and affordable housing should endorse our demands now. livingrent.org/demand_rent_co…

Landlords seem to be convinced that the power dynamic between tenants and landlords is equal.. Its not. They're making a profit off our need for a roof over our heads. We need to regulate landlords to protect tenants. Endorse our demands: livingrent.org/demand_rent_co…

The government just published it's analysis of their rent controls consultation. Wondering how so many landlords responded in such a short space of time?🤔 The government emailed ALL the landlords on the Scottish housing register. They did not do the same for tenants.

Its 3 days into April and we have already seen rent increases of 5 - 55%. Living Rent wants everyone knows they can contest their rent hike and we want to the Scottish Government to know the impact this is having on tenants by sharing this link: fightrent.netlify.app

The hospitality workers of Edinburgh bring almost £1bn into the Capital every July/August & yet the vast majority of them can’t even afford to stay in the city. This is why we’re teaming up with @livingrentedinburgh to push the Council to invest the Tourist Tax ££s into housing

Workers' and tenants' standing side-by-side and organising for change have won a massive victory against Edinburgh Council -- the possibility of new council homes built across our city. We need to defend this victory, defend each other, and keep fighting. Get Involved!

Many MPs urged gov't to include rent controls in Renters Rights Bill last week (see t.ly/VZ79-) But Matthew Pennycook MP & Angela Rayner argued rent controls wld reduce supply of homes Short🧵w/ data to show this risk is small & can be mitigated, and benefits outweigh costs
