Did you know that you can suppress the execution of statements with plsql_declarations? - Do you use views or VPD for security purposes? Then you probably need to do just that to protect your data. salvis.com/blog/2022/10/3…

Let me point out that for many existing applications "easy" is a huge underestimation. I.e. it can be complex and costly. In many cases it's far easier and cheaper to optimise the existing infrastructure/application.

The Kingston Technology #DataTravelerMax delivers excellent performance! PS: in the attached image the write performance is lower than the "advertised" 900MB/s because of #BitLocker. Anyway, good enough for storing few virtual machines used for test purposes.

Dear Barnes & Noble, I didn't order this magnificent book from Amazon because I already experienced their awful packaging practices. This morning, I received what you see in the pictures and, well, you are as insane and irresponsible as them. So long and thanks for all the fish.

This drives me crazy. I understand people liking PostgreSQL, but from there assuming that any behavior different from PostgreSQL is "alarming" is just insane. 🧵👇

Ludovico Caldara (@ludodba) 's Twitter Profile Photo

What I find alarming, is that people make assumptions about how the technology should work, without reading the doc, or doing tests? If your app fails on such a behavior, it's 100% your fault as a developer. RTFM, an test.

Franck Pachot YugabyteDB My point is, people should understand how the technology works, and autonomously find pros/cons for a specific use case using that knowledge. Feeding people with comparisons of very different technologies using 5 items in a list does not serve any purpose. 🤷

On this day 23 years ago, I started working for @Trivadis. One hour ago, I (digitally) signed a new employment contract. The strange thing is that the new company I will work for starting in 2023 is… @Trivadis. Hence, the amazing journey that began in 1999 continues.

I noticed some of you felt not comfortable to ask me via DM for a coupon. :) Here's a link that contains a coupon to watch the "Git for Beginners" course for free: udemy.com/course/git-for… #git #github #learn #softwaredevelopment #programming #coding #sourcecontrol

Even though Svetlana Prokopyeva’s final address to the court is more than two years old, I "discovered" it only today. But given that freedom of speech is under attack in so many places in the world, the statement is still relevant. Take 5 min and read it! rightsinrussia.org/prokopyeva-2/

New release of #PLSQL & #SQL formatter settings for SQLDev 23.1.0, SQLcl 23.1.0 and as a standalone executable JAR. Due to changes in the parser for #OracleDatabase 23c, the settings are not compatible with older versions of SQLDev and SQLcl. github.com/Trivadis/plsql…

Another nice surprise in Oracle AI Database #23c: SQL Performance Tips in Execution Plans I wasn't aware of this enhancement, but I think it can be useful to avoid typical SQL mistakes. danischnider.wordpress.com/2023/04/24/sql…

I'm #retired. And I've not so much as logged into Oracle 23c. But, ohhh, what the heck! I nice, little 23c improvement for Materialized Views I stumbled across. ANSI joins are now supported in MVs! mwidlake.wordpress.com/2023/04/24/a-l…

Everyone loves PostgreSQL these days. But there is a part of Postgres' architecture from the 1980s that causes many performance + storage issues for people. So Bohan Zhang and I wrote a new OtterTune blog article about why it is and why it sucks: ottertune.com/blog/the-part-…

One week ago I wrote about my move to #Bluesky. From the 90 accounts I follow here, 40 are on #Bluesky. From the remaining 50, only a dozen of them are still active. The others didn't write any post for months if not years. Hence, I'll stop using X. x.com/ChrisAntognini…
