The best thing to give to your enemy is forgiveness; to an opponent, tolerance; to a friend, your heart; to your child, a good example; to your father, deference; to your mother, conduct that will make her proud of you; to yourself, respect; to all others, charity. -Ben Franklin

A man with no taste for conflict becomes a container for other people’s unfinished impulses, because the world always searches for the nearest person willing to absorb discomfort without protest, and if that man is you, your patience will be mistaken for permission.

Malawi is the sort of place where we are all teetering so close to poverty that it's very easy to see when someone's financial standing has fallen into a state of disorder. So many are steady trying to survive when God put us here to thrive. We need to demand a better return.

In Malawi, the banking system isn’t “liquid” — it’s on life support. The Reserve Bank of Malawi is playing both arsonist and fireman. 🔥The arsonist: Facilitating massive domestic government borrowing — K675bn in Q4 2025 alone — vacuuming up every spare kwacha in the system.

I've never believed or ascribed to the "VIP Protocols, titles & notions" in Malawi & many other countries. I feel they're usually a play place for people who are very much the opposite of Very Important. If you're indeed Very Important you don't need a badge or proclamation.

I really want to know what was in the diet 18 to 23 years ago in Malawi that made us produce so many dimwits. Why at 7pm would you be standing on a remote dirt road with laptops & phones in hand watching things & advertising "Please rob me Chirimba & Chilomoni thugs!"?

When you build anything of worth there are about 20,000 hours of hard work no one wants to see or talk about. That stuff in the middle is what makes the stuff on the surface.

Zambia has a very strange approach to "innocent until proven guilty". So with all these non-bailable offences you just languish in cells until you have your day in court? In most countries that would lean towards being unconstitutional.

SHARPSHOOTER 47 Exactly. The parallel rate is the natural outcome when a fixed exchange rate is overvalued — when demand for dollars significantly exceeds supply. Access to dollars at the official rate is effectively a subsidy — but only for the well-connected few. Those with access import

Tomorrow I'll be helping my parents harvest this season's maize. When one truly assesses the inputs & does a cost-benefit analysis or ROI assessment, is farming maize annually on a rain-based platform worth the effort or investment? We really need to reprogram our people.

It's very important to elect councillors & MP's with at least some basic understanding of construction materials. Bitumen & tar can never bond with cement/concrete. It's always annoying seeing them patch up roads with concrete mixture.

The rains have come to an end & now its time to worry about bridge maintenance on all the wooden foot bridges that our students cross getting to campus. One reason I wanted to run as MP was to fix a lot of the wastefully initiated & constructed infrastructure in this area.
