Chief Larry Scirotto and command staff welcomed the newest recruit class as they begin day one of their training to become Pittsburgh Police officers. The class consists of 30 recruits who will complete 33 weeks of classroom training followed by 12 weeks of field training.

This morning, the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police held a promotions ceremony at Police Headquarters. Detective Andrew Robinson and Officer Christian Jonczak were promoted to the rank of Sergeant in front of friends and family. Congratulations Sergeants!

Cops & Kids Summer Camp wrapped up today with graduation. On Wednesday and Thursday, campers met River Rescue and enjoyed a round robin with SWAT, Bomb Squad, K9 Unit, Motorcycle Unit, Crime Scene Unit, and the Firearms Tracking Unit. Thank you to our campers for a fun week!

Chief Scirotto swore in the newest member of the PBP at headquarters this morning. Officer Alston has prior law enforcement experience with Edgewood Borough PD and will now complete three months of field training after undergoing PBP-specific training at the Academy this summer.

Chief Scirotto joined students from Pgh Public Schools Faison K-5 as they took part in the Department of Mobility & Infrastructure “Walk and Roll to School Day.” The program encourages alternative means of getting kids safely to school. Learn more ➡️ pittsburghpa.gov/domi/srts

PBP held a swearing-in ceremony for five newly-promoted commanders & three sergeants. Wanda Duncan, Lori McCartney, Jeffery Abraham, Anthony Palermo, and Brian Schmitt were promoted to commander. Joshua Haupt, Emily Myers, and Erin Palchak were promoted to sergeant.

PBP held a swearing-in ceremony for five newly-promoted commanders &amp; three sergeants.

ICYMI: Pittsburgh Public Safety Bureaus of Fire and Police went head-to-head at PPG Paints Arena for the First Annual Battle of the Badges last Saturday! Congrats to both teams for an incredibly competitive game, and a special shoutout to the Pittsburgh Police for their 6-5 shootout victory!
