One of my students raised an interesting question. How quickly do games usually reach a truly unique position?

Last year I won a tournament the weekend before the World Open and then crashed and burned in Philly. This year I am trying the same plan by winning yesterday's tournament 3.5/4 and flying to Philly later this week

It seems like the people who play classical chess like classical, and those that don't play much classical want to change classical chess

Scored 6.5/9 both days. Placing 5th and 6th, so not a bad weekend of rapid chess in the #chesspunks qualifiers On the heels of almost being state co champion my chess is in good form

Placed 2nd in my section (u2000) for the #chesspunks championship. Faced HashtagChess (currently on a break while PhDing) in round 1 and it went to tiebreaker (2-1) was able to win in the semifinal in two close games vs Julesgambit. In the Final I lost 1.5-.5 to goofyTushar Good games all!

From my last otb game. What lines would you be calculating as White and what move would you play? I had black, my opponent and I calculated basically all the same lines in this position, even if we were incorrect #chesspunks

Went 10/11 in blitz yesterday including this fun attack. How do you finish the game?

No matter what they name it I just do not find 960 to be very interesting

The eval bar is why I watch 90% less chess then a few years ago, I find it makes commentary pretty unwatchable. But uscf 2000 is not their target audience anyway

Consistency has always been my weakness otb. It is now 9 wins in a row, 28 games without a loss vs a u2100, and 39 games without a loss vs a u1800. Should have a new high this week right about 2040 uscf

A more important final round game than I thought. Winning the tournament, 500th classical win, new alltime rating high, and the USCF CM title
