This was already said by McKellen, but it does make one wonder if Makoare (Lurtz, Bolg) is in the film. It will be recalled that they had considered putting a "young" Gothmog into The Hobbit: a do-over perhaps?

Reports that Andy Serkis’ LORD OF THE RINGS prequel could be the start of a new trilogy aren't 100% true. This comes from the fact that the actors in The Hunt for Gollum have signed on for a 3-picture contract but this is standard practice for any Hollywood franchise. Source:
