As the rezoning hearing drags on, misinformation abounds.

Some facts I assembled from hours of public hearing.

Bombshell story shows Nathan Neudorf ordered the supposedly independent AESO to lie to the public about their support for a renewable energy moratorium. @abdaniellesmith used an arm-twisted AESO letter containing the lie to publicly justify the moratorium. 1

And one fourth way that Condon is wrong is that he constantly posts claims like 'City has become more dense but has not become more affordable, therefore density doesn't improve affordability'.

There are so many reasons that the nodes and corridors approach isn't the answer to urban growth. It's not a silver bullet and has a litany of negative impacts. It can't be viewed as the answer alone, as some #yyccc cllrs would like it to be.

The speakers said they'd heard it, and indicated they got it from one of the other speakers (Doug Leighton). I also questioned that statement at the time.

A speaker in favour of the proposed city wide rezoning for housing spoke about how his family lives in a home that was built under M-CG zoning. He said: 'we just call it 'home', not the neo-marxist blight that ruined our neighborhood character' That comment made me so happy!!! 😂

i've lived here for 25 years and if there is one trait I'd say many calgarians have it is a severe fear of any change at all
indoor smoking: the world is ending
bike lanes: the sky is falling
allowing someone to build a home that doesn't look like theirs: we're all doomed #yyccc

There has been a lot of commentary during this Public Hearing that this has nothing to do with affordability. It is data like this that require this proposal to be taken seriously despite the many issues that are being raised around the process and politics of the moment.

Wow. Another attack on the most vulnerable by Danielle Smith & United Conservative Caucus This will seriously impact many low income seniors but that tracks for this corrupt government. Another example of their malicious, punitive approach to citizens who dare challenge or vote against them.

monika You actually can't fit 12 units on a single lot under R-CG. It's physically not possible. Just more misinformation from the uninformed opponents of the modest rezoning for housing proposal.

Once you reach a certain age, a great way to go through life is, whenever you hear young people saying something that challenges you or that you don’t understand, presuming they may have a point and becoming curious about what you may not see. Just be curious. Avoid obsolescence!

So this is really important. When analyzing survey data you really have to make sure you understand how respondents are recruited and what that implies for considering the results.

This is NOT a public hearing on ending public hearings! I repeat this is NOT a public hearing for end all public hearings despite what is being spread online and via line of questioning from councillor sharp, McLean, Chu, and Wyness

Local government is the most transparent and accountable of any level of government. All of our council meetings are held in public, budget deliberations are held in public, and we are face to face with our citizens everyday in our community.
