remember, a first draft doesn’t have to be perfect! except for mine. mine must be flawless or I might as well quit. I am the only one this applies to.

Happy to share our work on a cross-species evaluation of nanopore direct RNA-seq. Big thanks to the research community for sharing raw data! How are systematic errors relevant to your research? #nanopore #RNA #nanoporeconf

Professor Strang gave his last Linear Algebra lecture today after 66 years at MIT. Strang was among the first to upload his classes to MIT OpenCourseWare when it first came online in the early 2000s. His 18.06 lectures have been viewed millions of times around the world

Looking forward to the direct RNA update tomorrow #nanoporeconf! Meanwhile, we also updated our preprint on dRNA-seq systematic errors with signal analysis, first is the mismatch error relationship between the 4 bases and their signal features (esp. intensity and dwell time) 1/3

Overall, C is the least accurate nucleotide, but sequence contexts matter greatly! The most accurate 3-mer context “GCA” shows clear signal-level separation with its mismatched motif "GUA", while the worst “UCU” is almost identical to “UUU”… 2/3

Pleased to be able to contribute here; study led by Max v Kleist (Robert Koch-Institut Freie Universität) & Redmond Smyth lab (Helmholtz Institute Würzburg (HIRI)). Updated preprint: biorxiv.org/content/10.110… Liuwei (Wang Liu-Wei) & Wiep (Wiep van der Toorn) are at London Calling in person #nanoporeconf; go talk to them! 3/3

#SuccessionHBO never have I thought a TV show about rich morons talking nonsense could change/touch me so fundamentally. The acting/characterisation, the political/social subtext, the bloody complicated life.

Excited to share my first first author publication of my #PhD at Helmholtz Institute Würzburg (HIRI)! Anne-Sophie Gribling and I shared the work to develop this new tool to study #RNA folding in cells with long reads, revealing differences in structures between isoforms. nature.com/articles/s4159…

This is unbelievable! Kurt WĂĽthrich, an 84-year-old, Swiss, male scientist, who won the Nobel Prize in 2002 claims that "as a male scientist" he has "a feeling of discrimination." He said this during the 72nd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting on a panel that had four old, male

Our nanopore dRNA paper has also been with Genome Biology since May and still "under review", so approaching 6 months now. Contacted them but did not receive any response...

Finally, meet WarpDemuX! Our (Wiep van der Toorn) solution for dRNA multiplexing - so fast it runs on any laptop, and so accurate that we could demux even super low abundance samples with high specificity! And imho the coolest thing? We've also run dRNA live barcode balancing with it đź‘€

Interested in multiplexing samples for nanopore dRNA sequencing with the new chemistry? Check out our newly released RNA4 model! 4 barcode model available here: github.com/KleistLab/Warp…

The editor returned yesterday to us with constructive reviewer suggestions and the chance to resubmit. However, reviewer #3 has a short but special message for us. Can you believe this?
