I'm blind & pregnant. Today during routine tests at the hospital I was spoken to like a disobedient child because I couldn't read a tiny label. The nurse huffed at me when calmly explained that I'm blind & she had sent my partner out of the room who can read things for "me"

Y'all REFUSE to be a safe haven for your children on some "the real world won't coddle them" bullshit. Of course it won't, that's why they need to learn what love looks like so they can recognize when they're being treated badly. Don't normalize pain and disappointment.

Did you know that sensory sensitivity due to physical touch is called "tactile defensiveness"? This can impact many things, including what a person is comfortable wearing... what they're comfortable eating... their comfort level being touched, etc.

I don't know who needs to see this, but if you've woken up in middle of the night and can't get back to sleep, take care of your sensory needs. Go get water if thirsty, use the bathroom, put on chapstick, blow your nose, adjust the temp... whatever your body needs. It will help.

I feel like a cornerstone sign of autism that isn't talked about much is stubbornness... or what LOOKS like stubbornness because it's really an unmet need. And what it FEELS like is an entire day ruined because of one specific thing that wasn't the exact way we needed it to be.

Undiagnosed neurodivergence is like being handed a video game that has been set to hard mode, but having people tell you over and over "it's on easy, why do you keep dying?" Diagnosis is learning the game is on hard mode. It doesn't make it easier, but you can strategize.

FYI... if you consider yourself a "creature of habit"... But what you mean by that is that you dissolve into a state of overwhelming and paralyzing panic and anxiety when something disrupts your routine... Then you *might* be autistic.
