Politics is about choices. HMG has made a choice to prioritise 18w, and so this is where all the funding headroom is going (this is clear from the Budget doc). Ministers will have been fully advised of the trade offs of this choice (on UEC, mental health, dentistry etc)

However, answering a Q, the PM said: "I do not accept proposition that because you drive to deal with waiting lists then everything else must suffer...The very idea that moment u say Im prioritising one thing, that is permission to let go of everything else is completely wrong"

Good day to read this important argument from Siva Anandaciva It'd be odd to have an all encompassing 10 year health plan which DOESN'T consider the health service's main targets kingsfund.org.uk/insight-and-an…

Today, some of The King’s Fund team took part in our ā€˜Health and care explained’ session at the House of Commons. The session was designed to provide MPs with the info they need to understand the health & care system, how it’s funded and key trends. Thanks to everyone who came!

Today the ONS have published new estimates of UK healthcare productivity. They estimate that productivity has declined, while last week NHS England estimated that English acute hospital productivity has increased. What’s going on? A short thread x.com/ONS/status/188…

Bill Morgan Dave West The question is what is the new operating model? Announcing a 50% cut without that vision risks that the people you will need will be the most likely to leave. Without a carefully worked out model it's just Elon.

ā€œThis government has certainly started something. But I don’t know how this is all meant to end. And more worryingly, I’m not sure who does.ā€ Siva Anandaciva on the abolition of NHS England. kingsfund.org.uk/insight-and-an…

In the past few weeks, the requirement to make deep and rapid cuts to ICB costs has raised questions about their future. Those questions received a partial answer in the blueprint for a ā€˜model ICB’ shared recently, but how useful is this in reality? kingsfund.org.uk/insight-and-an…
