Don't look now, but Florence is now a Category 2 Hurricane, with winds of 100 mph. Florence is still moving WNW at 12 mph, and is most likely going to recurve around High Pressure to its north, but confidence is still not 100%, so we will continue to watch

What’s on your #Florence shopping list? My suggestions: • Bottled / jugged water • NONPERISHABLE food that can be eaten straight from the packaging • Flashlight • Batteries • FULL battery packs to charge phones • Medications - Rx & OTC • Board games / puzzles / books

In Florida, we’ve seen our share of hurricanes. Our hearts and thoughts are with the people in the path of #Florence. That storm looks ugly. Please take it seriously. Prepare. Evacuate. Be safe.

All: Anyone interested in tracking the progress of #Florence, I have created a Twitter list with a bunch of meteorologists & official sources from that part of the world (and beyond) that I think will do a good job of covering most aspects of the storm: x.com/mattlanza/list…

As scary as these hurricanes are (and they are), can I just say - thank God for science? It wasn't long ago that the best advance info people had was a vague feeling of angst or an achy hip... #Florence

Two Georgia firefighters used Planet Fitness’ stair climbing machine to replicate the 110 story climb that firefighters took inside the WTC on 9/11. This is a beautiful tribute.
