During the meeting, CCPS presented its FY24 draft budget, leaving a “placeholder” for Transportation and little insight into the CCSBCA request for an 8-hour day & enhanced benefits for drivers and attendants. We will continue advocating for equity in hours, wages, and benefits.

Did you know that 82% of Maryland businesses are small businesses? They are the lifeblood of our communities. Just like the 24 local transportation companies of the CCSBCA are the ones we count on to get our kids safely to and from school. They deserve our full support!

The CCSBCA showed up in numbers last week to address the Board of Education and make the case for the guaranteed 8-hour workday, a multi-year contract, and other benefits and incentives to support our 458 local bus drivers, attendants, and employees.

We’ve fallen behind our surrounding counties. We must work together with Charles County to create a situation that helps us recruit and retain the best drivers to transport our children.

We want to thank everyone who donated to our annual Drive Out the Cold Winter Coat Drive this year! Our community stepped up and donated 250 new coats that we passed along to Charles County Public Schools to give to students in need during the coldest months of the year!

CCSBCA applauds our 340 employees — our contracted bus drivers and attendants, mechanics and schedulers. Yesterday, on School Bus Driver & Attendant Appreciation Day, we joined with Charles County Public Schools to treat them to lunch to show our appreciation for all that they do each day!

CCSBCA leaders Mark Koch and Adam Dyson attended an Electric Bus Open House in Loudoun County last week. Loudoun officials shared valuable "lessons learned," including the planning, operations and infrastructure needed to make this transition successful.

Educating our future generations is a joint effort and a working partnership! It’s Teacher Appreciation Week & our drivers and attendants, responsible for getting kids safely to school, salute the outstanding teachers who work so hard to share knowledge and a love of learning!
