The Coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth was held at Westminster Abbey on 12 May 1937. In this video there are voiceovers by King George and his daughter Queen Elizabeth. Also excerpts from her Coronation Day Diary describing the day. The last entry made me smile 😊

New: A first for the Princess of Wales. She'll take part in her first naming ceremony of a naval vessel, as sponsor of HMS Glasgow, next Thursday. The ceremony on the Clyde will see the princess release a bottle of whisky which will be broken (hopefully) against the ship's hull

Yes. Embrace the monarchy and honour the King. But PM Carney running straight to London to specifically plead with the King to come and read our speech from the throne because of threats from Trump feels just a bit cringey. Better to face Trump man to man than behind royal skirts

The Diamond Maple Leaf Brooch, created by Asprey, was gifted by King George VI to The Queen Mother for their first tour of Canada in 1939. Made of platinum and diamonds in the shape of the national maple leaf, it has been worn by four generations of royal women.
