We urge KYAMBOGO UNIVERSITY to immediately rescind the illegal suspensions of Guild President Akiso Benjamin Oppressed and the 16 student leaders for peacefully protesting against the fees policy. If that is not done by Friday morning, we’ll promptly take legal action to enforce our clients rights.





STATEMENT: We’ve filed the first set of applications against KYAMBOGO UNIVERSITY in Court. We continue to urge the university leadership to do what is right to allow Akiso Benjamin Oppressed and other 16 students to attend to their end of semester examinations—rescind the illegal suspensions now.

The 17 KYAMBOGO UNIVERSITY students who were arrested, imprisoned & later suspended have today petitioned court seeking an injuction to allow them sit for exams. Together with Chapter Four Uganda they challenge the unfair suspension & denial for a fair hearing, we stand in solidarity with them


UPDATE: High Court has fixed our application for an Interim Order restraining KYAMBOGO UNIVERSITY from enforcing the decision of the Vice Chancellor to suspend the 17 students, including the Guild President Akiso Benjamin Oppressed, for 3 PM this afternoon. This afternoon, we appeared before Hon. Justice Acellam Collins at the High Court (Civil Division), to seek for an Interim Order restraining KYAMBOGO UNIVERSITY from enforcing the suspension of the 17 students to enable them sit for their end of semester examinations which start on May 7.
