Helping children heal from trauma requires a bottom-up approach.They are developmentally stuck in the brainstem with very little accessing higher brain functions.Working on emotional memories while helping them explore dysregulated feelings & regulate the nervous system🧠🌱

My friend sent me a message that said you’ve been strong all year so don’t finish strong, finish rested. Sharing because I’m sure I’m not the only one who needed to hear this.

If everyone working with children and adults with additional needs read and truly embraced this advice, it would profoundly enhance the lives of these communities.

The brain has multiple regions,but more easily explainable as 1 house with 3 floors. As we go from the bottom up,it becomes more complex.Too many ed settings try to discipline when lower networks are disrupted and disorganised, causing a cascade of issues with regulation.🧠🌱
