First Wednesday of March and there was good representation for the evening. After Roy's Club business meeting & news recap, we enjoyed seeing some recently completed carvings during Show & Tell before getting on with carving some new projects.

We were also pleased to have #UFV student Grace drop by to meet with Mark, ask some questions and learn more about our Club & woodcarving in general. Hope the time was beneficial for you, Grace! Next Wed will be our last Club carving night at Yale for 2 weeks (spring break).

Final Wednesday evening of woodcarving before we take the 2-week spring break included a smaller group out last night as some club members are already away on holidays. We'll try to find some other interesting woodcarving stuff to share with you!

Those out were very involved in their own projects, helping each other or just catching up! With the #brantfestival coming up fast, we also know there are a few members working hard to complete projects to compete in #Parksville next month!

We were recently approached by Grace, a UFV student who was doing some local interest pieces on video for her social media project class. Grace had made contact with Mark, a member of our Club and interviewed him for her project. Here's the finished clip! instagram.com/reel/DV9Ya9yEj…

Special thanks to this intrepid group of club woodcarvers & family members who contributed their Sunday afternoon today to sell 50/50 tickets during the Abbotsford Canucks home game vs the San Diego Gulls! It was also "First Responders Night", AND we won 5-3! Thanks everyone!

Back at it after 2 weeks off saw a small group (and one possible new carver) out tonight as we still have some enjoying their holidays. We saw some fresh projects being worked on, Roy brought everyone up to speed on Club business and we had our monthly Show & Tell segment!

Nice turnout tonight with most of the group getting some quality carving time in (but as usual, there's one or two of us who spend our carving time chatting). 😏 Nice to see projects being worked on tonight for the first time, along with a few that had been set aside, unfinished.

Congrats to Bonnie, Roy and Mark for representing our Club this weekend at the #brantcarving competition in Qualicum Beach. It was a highly competitive show and our carvers came away with a number of strong finishes in a number of categories. Well done, everyone!

The #BrantFestival isn't just about us wood carvers, it includes beautiful projects from wood workers, wood turners, wood burners, etc. A few samples for you to enjoy.

Lastly, there was a wonderful selection of paintings displayed by local artists. So many different topics but all so well done!

Thanks to Club member Grant for teaching tonight's class about carving name badges. It was great to see 7 or 8 members working to create a personal name badge for themselves, we're looking forward to seeing finished badges painted and put to good use soon!

Gosh, not only did Grant McMillan oversee the members working on carving their own custom name pages, he also managed to take on the added responsibility of capturing some great photos of their projects too! Thanks Grant, we appreciate your extra efforts last night!

Great to have the opportunity to showcase a number of Club members woodcarvings in the #Chilliwack Cultural Centre lobby display area earlier today. Kudos also to Bonnie & Roy for their keen ability to fit the carvings in so every piece can be seen by visitors.

Along with our normal night of carving & conversing, we also had the pleasure of providing a couple of visitors with an overview of woodworking and our Club. Gwyneth was visiting from Singapore & her friend Samra lives in Burnaby. They had asked if they could visit & learn more!

Last night was our last monthly business meeting of the school year (until we return to Yale in the fall) and as usual, there's was plenty to talk about! More details coming to members in the Club meeting minutes, but we are working hard to keep the Club busy and visible to all!

As is our tradition, following the Club business, there's a chance to show off carving projects during Show & Tell. A nice selection of completed carvings were displayed and discussed, along with some WIPs (works in progress) for viewing and discussion.
