There is a crisis within the pandemic that we are not talking about. COVID-19 is unmasking racial inequities. #Act2endracism #COVID19 #raceisnotavirus edmontonjournal.com/opinion/column…

When all other arguments fail, blame it on race, one way or another. Same underlying message from Brett Wilson and Stockwell Day - People of colour are fundamentally inferior. Wilson: they’re really not smart enough. For Day: no systemic racism, they just can’t hack it. #racism

Be careful of what you say. You’re clueing people to what’s really going on in your head. This guy says people voted for Nenshi because of his race. What he really is saying is that HE did not vote for Nenshi because of the Mayor’s race. Drag racism out into the light. #racism

They came from Europe to care for Canadian kids. Called governesses, au pairs (equal to); granted automatic Canadian residency. Then they came from Caribbean and Philippines. Live in caregivers. To work for years with no guarantee of residence. No, there is no racism in Canada.

How does racism persist. First Coercion. Violence that kills, maims, detains, silences. George Floyd. Next is Consent. The nod we give to systemic discrimination. Res schools, modern slavery of migrant workers, poverty among people of colour. Confront coercion! Dismantle consent!

- he raised citizen application fees 5x what they were - he championed the TFWP which is basically Canada's modern day version of global indentured servitude - he once asked for "English to English" translation in the House of Commons when Harjit Sajjan was speaking

Powerful show of rage and hope yesterday in Calgary. Protesting against anti-black racism, forging solidarity across communities and building a movement for change. #BlackLivesMattters #yyc

Couldn’t join the gathering yesterday at Olympic Plaza due to an ongoing health situation. We were to bring this placard as support from Filipinos Rising. #BlackLivesMatter #yyc

The hollowing out of Alberta’s public health system continues. Despite its outstanding role in the pandemic, our lab service will be privatized by the Kenney gov. cbc.ca/news/canada/ed…

This is outrageous. I know of many health care workers receiving only a fraction of their pay because of forced isolation. Alberta government leaving hundreds of millions of dollars for workers unclaimed, labour advocates say | CBC News cbc.ca/news/canada/ed…

POC are more likely to work high-risk jobs that expose them to others & the NE Calgary is made up of many essential workers, who work in healthcare, homecare, sanitation & food industries. Maybe try calling out anti-maskers, not our essential workers... edmonton.ctvnews.ca/kenney-quiet-o…

If this is not racism I don’t know what is. Does not really care why racialized communities are more prone to Covid19. Calgary south Asian community demands apology from Premier Jason Kenney for 'wake up call' comments calgary.ctvnews.ca/calgary-s-sout…

What we are running short of: • Oxygen in our hospitals • Empathy from our elected officials for those exposed in the frontlines of this pandemic • Leadership from our provincial government

crisis like this pandemic makes public leaders behave truer to their values. With the Kenney government, it’s profit over people. Proof? They hid the truth from Cargill workers that the meatplant was not safe. They continue to shield outbreaks in workplaces from public scrutiny.

A growing grassroots movement of kindness and empathy in the Philippines. It started less than two weeks ago with this humble bamboo cart on the side of a busy road. Now there are more than 300. philippinesociology.com/contagion-of-m…

A tale of two gatherings with the Filipino communities in Calgary. One with NDP’s Rachel Notley and one with UCP Premier Danielle Smith. Two weeks apart. Pictures do paint a thousand words. Share one or two that come to mind. #ableg
