reminder that there actually are developing and even proven solutions to most of the existential issues facing humanity and the only thing between us and those solutions is a class of ppl who are intentionally-obfuscating that info to keep ppl feeling hopeless. don’t buy into it.

This is also a point we don't discuss often in academia. Global North researchers can access any country in the Global South for their research but the opposite is almost impossible. Even attending a conference is difficult. We don't question this asymmetry enough.

Every zionist organization should be dismantled, whether it's a drone factory, a state, a corporation, a community center, a non-profit, or a synagogue.

which is yet another reason why i wear a high quality mask in public in the face of oncogenic (cancer causing) airborne viruses, protecting immunocompromised community. solidarity is a verb.

No I don’t think a rich American woman knows more about the situation in Cuba just because she’s Cuban. I also don’t think she knows anything about the situation in America either

I understand tourette’s but I hate that I’m seeing white people basically saying Black people should get over being called the n word because of it. You can understand that it may be out of their control but still know the weight of that word and not be so trivial about it.

Regarding mexico, what’s necessary to know is the US has its hands all over this & has for decades. Specifically, I’m speaking of how the U.S. gun industry profits heavily from cartel violence, how the US arms cartels, & how the U.S. has funded & armed militias in Central America

TheDisabilityEnthusiast (@twitchyspoonie) 's Twitter Profile Photo

I was wondering why people were looking up my old threads about coprolalia and Tourette's. I've now seen the clip going around of John Davidson at the BAFTAs. I do already have a TikTok about my thoughts about ticcing the n-word, so I'll refer to that.... tiktok.com/t/ZP8x2c7P8/

TheDisabilityEnthusiast (@twitchyspoonie) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Thank you and I'd also like to add, this symptom is far riskier for Black people. As terrifying as I'm sure it was for John to experience an n-word tic in that high stakes and public an environment, he experienced less than a Black person would.

TheDisabilityEnthusiast (@twitchyspoonie) 's Twitter Profile Photo

And for all of the people saying "Tourette's doesn't make you say racist things", it does. I know that sucks for everyone involved, but that is the reality of the condition. Not for everyone with it and TS shouldn't be reduced to that, but it can absolutely make you say...

TheDisabilityEnthusiast (@twitchyspoonie) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Ngl it's extremely frustrating, to say the absolute least, to have been saying the opposite of this for years, to have had this symptom and then to have other Black disabled people completely erase my words and existence bc it's not easy to sit with.

TheDisabilityEnthusiast (@twitchyspoonie) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Ngl a lot of people's reactions to this are just confirming my feelings of isolation and anxiety as a Black person who has been advocating for Tourette's and ME, two extremely stigmatized disabilities, for years and has been constantly harassed and dogpiled with no defense.

yeah so this is something that people with coprolalia do experience regularly. their tics do often result in them being assaulted. But as many an abusive parent/caregiver of a disabled person has discovered, you can’t beat tics out of people.

America The Ghetto | lizzmurr56.bsky.social (@lizzmurr56) 's Twitter Profile Photo

People treat disabilities like a “white people issue”, meanwhile Black & brown ppl have worse outcomes than their white counterparts. You cannot advocate for a hostile world for white disabled ppl & think you’re creating a worthwhile world for disabled POC. It’s ass backwards.

hospitals keep infecting people with covid at their most vulnerable. people come in to get healed and never come out again. over and over and over this is happening. something has to be done
