Today Gr 8s and 7s co-created their commitments for Knowledge Building Circles. Lots of ideas on how students can create a safe/brave space where we can all learn from and with one another. Thank you 7-1FI, 7-1, and 7/8-1 for welcoming me into your space! Viola Desmond Public School

It's competition time! Do you want to win a free place to Data Champions in 2024 (in the city of your choice)? If so, like, share, or tag someone in the comments on this post to go into the draw. Each time you interact with the post you get another entry - so tag away :).

Using a traffic light system to evaluate different types of reading research, Reid Smith nailed it (again!) by sharing what works, what doesn't and what has weak evidence. Fantastic user-friendly guidance to implement cost effective practices with time efficiency Sharing Best Practice

My 7-12 school is moving from streaming to mixed ability classes in 2024. I'm happy to support this move or fight to maintain the status quo in 7-9 science. Whichever way I go, I'd like it to be evidence based. Hit me with your research on both sides of the argument! Please!

How do we build a culture of “learning” in our classroom, not just a culture of “getting good grades” & “finishing” assignments? When students ask me questions, we look them up, we discuss them, even if it takes us down a rabbit trail.

One mistake in retrieval practice is compromising the technique by having students ex: review their notes together rather than quizzing each other closed book. Another is not asking ALL Ss to retrieve but only ones you call on. Helpful guide by Kate Jones (🔗 in next tweet)
