Grateful for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Mycobiomics partnership between FABI and Austrian partners at AIT and BOKU, Tulln. Really learning a lot and get to meet great people! 🍄🧫🧬🔬

Speakers and other participants from Mycobiomics after our Special Interest Group symposium that was held today at the medical mycology conference in Vienna. Students from Egerton University and FABI are presently working in Austria

1/n 🥁We named a newly discovered #fungal species, #Fusarium mariecurieae, in honor of #MarieCurie (1867–1934) and in recognition of support from the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions grant Mycobiomics Naming a species is a taxonomist’s ❤️ language. mycokeys.pensoft.net/article/148914/ @mycokeys

5/n Our study highlights #Fusarium diversity in pastures in 🇿🇦and we are now investigating secondary metabolites & #mycotoxin production in these new species. Stay tuned for more 🧬🔬🧫🧪 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions MycoKeys Pensoft European Research Executive Agency FABI

6/n This research was made possible thanks to great support! 🎉🔬We received grants from: ✅ National Research Foundation of South Africa (Grant No. 137791: PI:Myself) ✅ FLAIR Fellowship (FLR\R1\201831: PI: Cobus Visagie) by the #AfricanAcademyofSciences The Royal Society funded by the UK

7/n Our project also received funding from the EU’s Horizon 2020 research & innovation programme (RISE) via the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions grant (No. 101008129) under the Mycobiomics🇪🇺🍄European Research Executive Agency UP Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences University of Pretoria FABI

9/ We appreciate the continuous support that enables groundbreaking mycological research. Stay tuned for more exciting discoveries! 🍄🔬 @mycokeys Mycobiomics Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions European Research Executive Agency FABI University of Pretoria UP Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences

Celebrating with the Applied Mycology group FABI - our first PhD publication! 🎉 We described 3 new Fusarium species 🧬🍄 MycoKeys mycokeys.pensoft.net/article/148914… Mycobiomics Also, how amazing is this gift 🤩 Cobus Visagie Neriman Yilmaz 🧫🔬🧬

Three Fusarium species discovered in 🇿🇦 Eastern Cape dairy pastures reveal potential implications for cattle health. One species was named Fusarium mariecurieae to honour Marie Curie and recognise support from the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions project Mycobiomics. 🔗 doi.org/10.3897/mycoke…
