Seventy-five years ago today (26 Aug 1950), an official dedication ceremony renamed the Long Range Proving Ground Base to Patrick Air Force Base! The base was named in honor of Maj Gen Mason M. Patrick, the first Chief of the U.S. Army Air Service. Cape Canaveral Space Force Museum
