Today, U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission Gabrielle Cowan visited the #LockedShields2024 exercise at NATO CCDCOE and explains how the event gives NATO Allies the opportunity to exchange best practices, boost trust and resilience, and increase cyber readiness across the Alliance.

Yesterday, we were honored to welcome Chief of Defence of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, General Steve Thull to discuss the works of the CCDCOE.

Last week we were happy to host leaders and researchers from Columbian university Universidad Surcolombiana to give an overview of what CCDCOE does and in particular, the activities and research of our Law Branch – including the Tallinn Manual, the Cyber Law Toolkit among others.

With an emphasis on the importance of civil-military relations, Adm Joachim Rühle, Chief of Staff of NATO
SHAPE and Director Mart Noorma were able to explore the CCDCOE’s activities that touch this topic to include the annual cyber exercises, #LockedShields and #CrossedSwords .

Sen Craughwell led an Irish delegation with the main discussion topic centered around how the CCDCOE can best support #Ireland in cybersecurity skill development. All agreed that active leadership in cybersecurity should be the first priority.

During #CrossedSwords , experts on the Digital Forensics and Incident Response team are training and figuring out how to crack hardware like locked phones and drones using a variety of tools and their ingenuity!

There are 3 tech training elements at #CrossedSwords . Offensive Cyber Operators conduct a simulated offensive military operation. Offensive Cyber Unit conduct actions to support a kinetic military operation. Green Team develops the systems that are hacked by OCOs and OCU.
