In June 2023, the Atlantic Ocean west of Ireland and around the UK was impacted by a marine heatwave that was classified as ‘extreme’ and in some areas ‘beyond extreme’. Sea surface temperatures in some areas rose to 5 degrees Celsius above average. shorturl.at/5aVko

The Council’s Adaptation Committee and Secretariat met in the beautiful Vertigo meeting room in Cork County Hall. The Committee appreciated the opportunity to engage with the local authority and to see flood relief and urban regeneration projects in progress in Cork City.
