What the country learned in the 2018-2019 #RedForEd walkouts, and is learning now in 2020, is that politicians won’t save education, but an organized labor force will.

There are an awful lot of folks out there thinking they can do a better job teaching than trained educators, especially now during COVID. We implore them to send in their applications to one of the hundreds of available positions in our state and see for themselves.

Workplace democracy means being able to advocate for your safety and the safety of your fellow workers without fear of retaliation. Admins, boards of ed, and supers that try to intimidate educators for speaking their minds be aware: Labor is powerful.

They knew all along. The waiting game was a distraction to prolong the confusion we all faced. Organize first. Organize always.
