Use your knowledge & your platform to change lives. There’re athletes everywhere who never liked a sport until they got that one special coach who cared. It doesn’t matter what the sport is. You’re in a very unique position & have the potential to positively impact kids’ futures!

Throughout your life there’ll be people telling you what you can’t do. Those people are usually speaking from jealousy or spite because they’re too afraid to try to reach their own dreams. Realize it for what it is & don’t ever let anybody else determine who you’re going to be!

No matter the sector, whether it’s business, education or athletics, how you treat each other is a key factor in how you & your team perform. Without respect, courtesy & dependability a team will fall apart. A productive environment leads to greater success. Relationships matter!

Bless the coaches who hold all kids accountable for grades, conduct & behavior. Never doubt that choosing discipline over a win is the right thing. It matters. That example says that regardless of how good a player is, he/she will be held to a very high standard. That’s powerful!

There are tons of amazingly talented players who eliminate themselves from ever making it due to lack of respect/bad attitude, terrible grades, no work ethic, poor social media posts, alcohol/drug/relationship issues, partying/social life. Be smart about all aspects of your life!

When I say “Build relationships” with your students, I’m saying “Just be a decent human-being to kids.” It’s not an add-on or something more to do. It’s treating kids like they’re human.
