This is Hitoshi Igarashi, a Japanese scholar of Arabic and Persian literature. He was murdered in 1991 for translating Salman Rushdie's novel. Translators have lost their lives for books.

by page five of a translation you should have more tabs open than can fit in one screen, 50 of them dictionaries and thesauruses (of the same website likely), and searches like "how to hug a violin?" and "names of buttons on a radio"

Did I find a German copy of Twilight, Bis(s) zum Morgengrauen, for one Euro at a fleamarket, and bought it for the pun? Yes. Am I now powering through Dracula and Carmilla so I can read the true vampire literary canon? Maybe...
