The Wachowskis made a movie about knowing the truth about yourself from childhood and being supported completely by your family in seeking to actualize that reality and in that actualization displacing capital from dominance over the world.

As much as this scene kinda works in spite of being insane, I think it would probably be better if they didn't double back on the "twist". I honestly think it's more interesting and meaningful if Racer X was just Some Guy who really cared a lot

One thing you gotta give her is that unlike 90% of every other dem in Congress, she actually truly hates these people in her bones

it's great to see a movie from 2008 like speed racer and see a time when they still shot things practically and didn't rely on CGI for everything

My partner saw Mount Eerie the night that Michael Jackson died and Phil Elverum said “I guess you’ve all heard the news… probably for the best”

people are understandably reluctant to outright say “Michael Jackson’s music will live longer and means more than those kids’ pain” but that’s the subtext of every conversation about him and it would probably save everyone a lot of agita to just get it out in the open

Always reluctant to do a generational weigh-in but my view tends to be 1) there are more young people with serious movie knowledge now than there have ever been 2) young people who don't specifically care about movies know fewer of them than they ever have

There's been no era of criticism that's been kinder and gentler to movies than this current one. Stans' heads would explode if they read reviews from the 1970s. Heck, maybe anything pre-2010 too.
