AB has 1.8 beds/1,000. Cdn avg is 2.6 and European mean is 3-4. A major reason we have a crisis is lack of acute care beds.

We need to increase by at least 50% or roughly 4,000 beds.

Where is the capital plan for 8, 500 bed hospitals???

I spoke recently to a consultant who was spending a large part of their week writing letters and dealing with admin as they had no support staff. Not a great use of their time. NHS knows the cost of everything and value of nothing.

Tomorrow I have the privilege of speaking to Calgary Operating Room Nurses Association. Canadian nurses are amongst the best trained, hardest working nurses on the 🌎, with huge responsibility and practice scope. They have been propping up 🇨🇦 healthcare, but it is wearing thin.

38$ compensation for a Family Doctor visit is not a viable business model. Their operating costs are 40-50%+ of billings.
