So this is impressive. Uni of Reading is reporting today that at midnight 19/20 January 2020, the mean sea level barometric pressure at London’s Heathrow Airport reached 1049.6 millibars (mbar). This is the highest barometric pressure ever recorded in London, in over 300 years.

A widely resented dress code, harassment reports & complaints of unequal work assignments plagued an Arctic research ship last fall. Experts say these issues illustrate wider challenges women still face in polar science & field research across the board. eenews.net/stories/106371…

Check our paper published on time for #planktonweek Cefas. We have made the most of the #PlanktonImager Peltic surveys, collecting in-situ copepod sizes to build and test an indicator for food webs. Carolyn Graves Hayden Close James sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Had the opportunity to work with really amazing people from the Kiribati Ministry of the Environment for this CME Programme water quality project in Tarawa. The environmental issues facing Small Island Developing States are huge and complex; more scientific observations are needed!

The vast new Brunt Ice Shelf #iceberg has been officially named #A81 - very catchy. 📸 also NEW: Sentinel-1 radar image of the new iceberg provided by Copernicus EU and ESA Earth Observation, which shows A81 moving west.
