This is a fantastic study by SE Ranking about the state of AI Overviews. Some interesting key points: ⭐️AIO now triggers for 7.47% of the keywords they studied ⭐️ Relationship queries generate the most AIO, followed by Food & Bev, Technology & Business ⭐️Reddit and Quora no

Completely impressed! One of the most complete diagrams of Google Search systems, compiled by Prof Mario Fischer (via the Google Leak, court docs, etc) Importantly, these aren't ranking factors—and likely pieces are missing—but helps show how Google puts together a SERP 👏👏👏

Google is testing AI Overviews in incognito mode. Seems like a good time to remind everyone that adding udm=14 as a parameter to the Google URL gets rid of all the garbage they’ve stuck in search.

Today we released the August 2024 core update. It continues our work to improve the quality of our search results by showing more content that people find genuinely useful and less content that feels like it was made just to perform well on Search. developers.google.com/search/blog/20…

A bunch of wording has changed in Google's documentation of core updates. Here are the most interesting bits: ▪️Most sites don’t need to worry about core updates. ▪️The point of the August core update is to show more content that people find genuinely useful. ▪️The changes

Good Morning Google Land! This is the first edition of "Core Update Notes" for the August 2024 core update. And man, are we starting off in an interesting way. First, Google announced a ranking issue last night impacting a "large number of search results". So, what I present now

Service Sunday: Want to be useful? Help your local humane society! 1. Volunteer to walk or play with the animals. 2. Donate old towels. They use them for all sorts of things. 3. Money is always welcome, or see if they have an Amazon or Chewy wish list.

I don't defend Google very often but... The idea that "the loudest sites are the ones that recover as a PR move" is complete BS and conspiracy. There's many sites nobody knows about seeing bumps up similar to Housefresh and Retrododo. Tweet less, research more, you'll see.

Many people are asking if there is any particular logic to the category/niche of the sites seeing HCU comebacks vs. those going down TBH I don't think that's how it works. HCU sites run the gamut, it could be any topic where the content was deemed to be primarily written for

Working on an upcoming presentation and used ChatGPT to generate a description of the sites that have seen the greatest percentage visibility decline in the past year, and the type of website they are (via SISTRIX) I think the story is pretty clear. (FYI these are not HCU
