Studies have shown that time in nature — as long as people feel safe — is an antidote for stress: It can lower blood pressure and stress hormone levels, reduce nervous system arousal, enhance immune system function, increase self-esteem, reduce anxiety, and improve mood. #nature

In the patter of gentle rain, in the pounding of waves on a beach. In the garden and the still beauty of a pond. In the trance of Byrd, Handle and Vaughan Williams. We may not exist in the way we might suppose we do. But we have at times created something out of nothing. #garden

Indeed, research shows that trees really do have healing powers. For one thing, they release antimicrobial essential oils, called phytoncides, that protect trees from germs and have a host of health benefits for people. #trees #healing #nature #stillness

It’s no secret that water features provide soothing sights and sounds that help you relax and de-stress in today’s busy world. Now more than ever, with a lingering pandemic on hand, we need the healing effects that water provides. #pond #nature #wellbeing #healing

have just spotted one on my walk this morning on the East Kent Coast. There are around 36,000 harbour or common seals in the UK. Preferring sheltered shores and rocky estuaries, these seals are frequently seen around Orkney, Shetland, and the Outer Hebrides.

Family and small farms are vital to our economy and well-being as a nation. Not only do they support the competitiveness and sustainability of rural and farm economies, they serve to: Protect and enhance natural resources and the environment. #farmers #nature #buylocal #kent

Nature is powerful in that it can heal your wounds; a sustainable, nourished garden allows you to connect with yourself and your relationship with the nature, no matter where you are. Whether you’re designing a meditation garden or creating a cottage garden. #garden #sacred

In the will to live, hope is most vital. Hope is the emotional and mental state that motivates you to keep on living, to accomplish things, and to succeed. A person who lacks hope can give up on life and lose the will to live. Without hope, there is little to live for. #cancer

There’s nothing quite like waking up to the sound of chirping birds in the morning. When you live in the countryside, you don’t have to go far to appreciate nature in all its glory, with rolling fields, flower-filled meadows and wondrous woodlands only a stone’s throw away.

I find it really amazing how our culture encourages more and more to live up to some impossible ideal, some empty vessel of perfection. #slowliving #gardening
