This is lovely, but remember: *Most carers didn’t choose that path. Life happened to them & the person they care for. *Carers aren’t saints. Please appreciate them even when they swear and shout in frustration. *Nice words don’t pay bills. Or provide a rest. #GeneralElection

So here we are, day 2 of #RealCarersWeek. Up at 2am to get mum up and back in bed after she had a fall, managed to grab another hour or so of sleep, absolutely knackered and still not feeling 100%, but the caring duties go on. This is the real life of Unpaid Carers.

Very few of you turned up. Who knew that exhausted unpaid carers wouldn't just happen to walk past our stand outside the shops, on which we spent so much money? We did not foresee this.

We had some blue lights lying around (we did use them during #AutismAwarenessWeek until people pointed out the problem with this). So we've lit up our council offices! I think you'll agree, after our week of efforts you carers must feel just so special & valued. #CarersWeek2024

Well, that's a wrap... we're off on our paid annual leave. We'll be paid nine times what an unpaid carer gets for two weeks of Carer's Allowance during our fortnight holiday. We earned it, bringing you this content that made you all feel so valued. On the map. #RealCarersWeek
