A little later, Supe Tam inadvertently gave away Haubert's game when she revealed EBRHA had sent a letter demanding $175MM for landlords from Measure W funds to BOS---so Haubert wasn't responding to "poor smol housing providers", he was responding to lobbying from Big Landlord

Remember that local media almost completely ignored a month's worth of organizing at council that included rallies and dozens of notables and luminaries speaking at council. But every media station came to record 5 people hiding behind signs to make them look like 10 for recalls

Were the recalls a property investment strategy undertaken by two men who have apparently flourished in a market of luxury high rises that was out of their reach previously?

Despite claims by many CMS, there have been more encampment evictions this year than at any other time in the past five years. The urgency claim belies significant city evictions throughout east and west Oakland in the past two months. Strange ignoration of it.

#Oakland City Council seems to have only one member who seems genuinely committed to the interests of city residents: Carroll Fife. oaklandside.org/2025/07/24/pge…

It's wild to me that landlords as an interest group demand sympathy while this is so clearly their business model--make people homeless when the rents increase to make more money. It's required a media backed 5 year onslaught to convince the public anything else is going on

Who gets to have housing, and who makes that decision? Join us TOMORROW, Wednesday, July 30th to demand that Measure W funds permanent housing, support for houseless neighbors, and real solutions to homelessness - not a taxpayer-funded landlord bailout. Alameda County Board of

Tomorrow at BOS the body will vote on proposed Measure W funds allocations framework; despite the Admin's rec for 90% or more of MW funds being used for homeless, Board moved to propose 80%, a relatively significant decrease. We'll see if there's movement to try for 90 again

Looks like community will be out again tomorrow. The landlord allocation demanded by EBRHA and less than a dozen landlords with stories of tenant abuse that Haubert mentioned about ten times isn't on the list, but he could make a bid for something ideological and symbolic

🔥🔥🔥 These young people speak for literally hundreds of people who showed up and never got their voices heard about how public dollars should be spent to address our homelessness crisis. We'll try again tomorrow!
