RELEASE DAY After almost 10 years of hard work, tireless research, and a dive deep into the kernels of computer science, I finally realized a dream: running a high-level language on GPUs. And I'm giving it to the world! Bend compiles modern programming features, including: -

I just wrote a numpy 3D-array viewer with Three.js and #anywidget. If you want to tinker with it, here's the standalone app: py.cafe/kolibril13/thr… It’s powered by PyCafe and runs entirely in your local browser thanks to Pyodide.

What if we could universally recombine, insert, delete, or invert any two pieces of DNA? In back-to-back nature papers, we report the discovery of bridge RNAs and 3 atomic structures of the first natural RNA-guided recombinase - a new mechanism for programmable genome design

Does a worse cognitive (thinking) score eliminate you from Parkinson's DBS? What are the outcomes? Very interesting finding that those who passed cognitive screening for DBS, but who had lower scores, still greatly benefited and did so over time. I want to caution that the data

By job, I count 7/100 traditional academics. Why is this? Does Time neglect academics like Yann LeCun, or Geoffrey Hinton who quite literally built the models these folks use? Or is this a symptom of influence shifting away from academia and into industry? I’m not sure either way
