Today I lost the sterling silver Navajo storyteller ring I purchased from Joe Begay in Tucson 6 yrs ago. It was a token of Nel’s journey to sobriety and my solo travel from TN to Arizona where he went to heal. Hopefully the comfort will pass to its finder.

Someone tried to swipe my TCRS retirement fund. 🤬 Thankfully the bank they used denied the deposit.

Metal detecting on land in town that I have permission for. Looked up and all of a sudden I was surrounded by five police officers. 🤪

Looking forward to celebrating all the Kings and Queens attending this amazing event. Special needs prom, it’s been a while since I stepped away from Special Education and I can’t wait to dance the night away!

On this day 2015 I rode the school bus to the high school I taught at so I could experience what many of my students had to. 6am rainy day bus stop way out in the country.

Our daughter is in Hawaii. I’m writing her out of my will tomorrow!

5/14/2015 life was crazy as Nelson started his week long outpatient opiate detox with me as his caregiver. Anything is possible when you set your mind to it. Addiction steals so much from the addict but also disrupts the lives of those close.I am grateful.

Overheard a couple trying to purchase living room furniture at a local thrift store. The manager was so kind and brought the price down considerably, so while they were moving their van to load I snuck up and paid for it all anonymously. Random act of kindness, try it.

I have seen him live 55 times and look forward to many more! Making this old lady feel young again.

Picking my Nel up tomorrow at the airport in Destin. Two weeks is way to long to be away from him 🥰😻. Two more weeks here at Destin then back to L.

The ocean here in Destin is the warmest I’ve ever felt it. Call me crazy but I love storms and I’m here for it.

After a month of metal detecting beaches I sort of look forward to returning to TN……maybe.

Not my battle but it’s important to remember when trying to understand someone you’re close to.

Eight years ago my world was falling apart. Not many people knew our journey at the time. In 4 wks he will have 8 yrs sobriety. Never give up on them.
