My take on the discussions (which are somehow *still* happening on the Liverpool List) about the need for Classicists to have reading proficiency in two ancient and (at least) four modern languages - who's willing to pay for that?

Very pleased to see that the Classical Association has launched this hardship grant scheme! Both their overall annual budget for this, and the maximum grant amount, are much larger than anything we can offer. Full details of eligibility etc are in the post below.

The first application deadline is in less than three weeks, so please share this widely - especially with self-funded PhD students in your departments or those whose funding period has ended, and who have no access to internal / departmental hardship funds.
