Was also talking about the power of ‘being with’ with students today ❤️ we can forget that it is a powerful intervention, perhaps one of the most powerful tools we have. It should be a core part of MHNursinf curriculum Mental Health Deserves Better: #MHDeservesBetter
The Nursing Times are seeking ideas for nurse education in their 'manifesto by nurses'. Opportunity for #MentalHealth nurses to be heard in calls for respecting the field specific content within undergraduate curricula. Please respond. #MHDeservesBetter nursingtimes.net/news/education…
I recently had a paper published by the Journal of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing, about my experiences of harm in mental health services; how this caused me to self-discharge; and my life now as a "service-avoider". It's available here: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/jp…
Are you a mature #nursing student in the UK? Can you help us understand how to best support the academic needs of mature nursing students? Please contact Elizabeth [email protected] to take part in this valuable research. Please RT #NHS WeNurses 💙 The RCN Nursing and Midwifery Council NHS England
Hello Nursing and Midwifery Council. How regular is 'regular'? The future nurse standards don't assert, promote or protect specific skills for mental health nurses, and change is needed. #MHDeservesBetter
"There is a clear call from participants for MH nurse education to be recognised as a distinct specialisation... emphasising the importance of specialist training–a clear response to the sense that MH nurses can often feel invisible" #MHDeservesBetter onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/in…
Perhaps with this damning report, there is an opportunity for renewal, and a regulator that really listens. Poor #MentalHealth nursing education is happening under the nose of Nursing and Midwifery Council, and they have done nothing to prevent this. #MHDeservesBetter
